Mononoke was so preachy I felt like I was in church watching the damn thing

I saw it in the theatre and it was the first Miyazaki film to ever get a widespread theatrical release and I was so disappointed I felt sick after watching it

I like Princess Mononoke and thought the message was well handled. Most save the environment movies I have seen paint nature as something good and pure and helpless. This movie showed the truth. That while nature can be seen as beautiful, it is amoral and brutal. That they were able to get the message across without woobifying the land or making man evil.

I actually really like Lady Eboshi. She is a BAMF trying to solidify her power so Iron Town can continue to exist.

I also really like the message in Princess Mononoke. And Lady Eboshi is one of my all-time favorite Miyazaki female characters.

Eboshi was just about the only thing I did like about that movie, but I just remember thinking "I wish this character was in a totally different movie"
