Eh, I'll be agreeing with the secret here. I don't think Natasha is bashed in Clint/Coulson fics, I really don't. But that doesn't mean she doesn't get short-shrift in her characterization. I admit I was bugged enough by it not to read that many C/C fics, but all I saw was Natasha being Yenta to C/C or one-note "scary" ninja-woman. That's not "being treated fairly". The only way of treating a character badly isn't by making them a shrieking harpy or whatever. Throwing their character by the wayside in the service of your ship may not be as bad, but that doesn't mean it's to be lauded, ffs.

All this backpatting here, is making me pretty sure this entire thread is full of people who don't actually fan Natasha as such. It's just no longer PC to say that you don't give a shit either way. Or only OC enough to care that she isn't being treated as a harpy~ but that's it. Yenta!characterization is a-okay and to be applauded!

What do you mean by 'Yenta'? That she's actively working to get Clint and Coulson together? I don't think i've read that. Fics where she's supportive of their relationship, yes (like friends are), but not ones where she's all match-maker.

In most of them, at least the ones i've read, if Clint and Coulson are together, than Natasha is usually paired off with Pepper.
