I get this sometimes. I once made the mistake of going on wikipedia and seeing how far into the future pages for years go...and I got as far as 10 000 AD read something like "if humans are still using this calendar to measure the passage of time" (I'm paraphrasing and can't be bothered to check) and got hit by the most epic death pangs you can imagine. I spent the best part of the rest of the day worrying about what'll happen to the Earth in 5 billion years and then thinking "shit, I won't be here"

Sorry OP, I'm probably not helping!

Ahhhh, I do this too! I start thinking about what will happen when the sun implodes/explodes/whatever and what human life will be like up until then before I realize I'll be dead long before then. In a way it's comforting that I won't be around for it, but on the other hand... D:

would you even want to still be here in 5 million years?

I know right? Watching the universe die around you (if that's how it works?)... and then? D:

Haha not really no, cos as comment above said, Earth will be crispy long before then. I think it's more the realisation I would have been dead for millennia by that point.

Yes - but what if you're reincarnated??

Don't worry, man - I doubt humans will exist in 5 billion years. And even if they do, the Earth may well burn up in just a couple billion years anyway, long before the sun swallows it.
