I have to say you're not really alone there. There's a lot of fans who train weaker Pokémon, especially in light of the popularity of places like Smogon and competitive battling in general, so don't be afraid of training your own way.

After all, hey, if it makes the game more fun for you, go for it. Personally, some of the most fun I've had in a Pokémon game was by doing solo runs with things like Rattata, Sentret, and Bidoof. I was thinking about doing a Magikarp run too eventually, but I can't decide on the game. Either way, it's hard not to get attached to the Pokémon I train and imagine my Bibarel being a massively proud and badass fighter who's like, "Fuck you, Cynthia, I'm a Bibarel," so I hear you.

And I'd be up for hearing more of your secrets. b)'')b
