That assumes that everyone has the money/time/transportation necessary to go see a movie. Not everyone has that free afternoon or evening, or that extra $10-20 (plus any babysitting costs, for people with small children) for "going to a stupid movie." That doesn't mean that when they talk about the importance of supporting films with strong female characters, that they're engaging in "self-serving lip service" instead of "actual belief."
