Not to be harsh, but how is your one ticket going to make or break an opening weekend? Sure, go ahead and feel like you should have seen it for your feminist reasons (although I don't see why that needs to be opening weekend - $10 is $10 regardless if it's the opening day or not), but it seems you're working yourself up unnecessarily.

'Brave' did just fine at the box office, although not stellar. Honestly though, I don't think that had anything to do with the female protagonist. There was a large disconnect between the sweeping epicness of the trailers and the actual plot. I expected a princess fighting for her kingdom and kicking ass all over the place. It was so much smaller in scope than I had anticipated. And it didn't have the same level of heart or wit as most Pixar films.

I did love the mother-daughter dynamic (that both of them were awesome in their right, but took different paths), that the mother wasn't a villain and that there's wasn't a focus on romance. In the end though, it was just very good, instead of the *awesome* I expected. Also, my husband liked it even more than I did.

I think the OP is thinking more along the lines of their one ticket being one of the many "one tickets" that make up a whole shit ton of tickets that never get bought. Which is true, we gotta consider all the other people who collectively go "Aw c'mon how are little old me and my missing $10 going to hurt it at the box office?" but also there's really no reason to beat oneself up over not being able to buy a ticket to a movie.

Yeah, as humans we have collective consciences as well as individual ones, so we can feel really bad at not taking part in something greater. I wish we were better at that though, it would make things like fighting global warming easier.

Not that watching Brave is particularly the height of activism, but you know what I mean.
