Having just seen this for the first time... If that's awful art I guess I should call it quits.

What is something with "good art?"

That is art that's good enough to be published by marvel or dc. And if this is an artist with an actual career or even a day job, $400 is not a lot of money. I'm not getting where it's a big deal that he set that as the goal, a goal that's being reached a teeny bit at a time. It's not like it's one person handing over $400, that would be weird.

I would also be interested in doing commissions for whoever forked that over.

Yeah it's this kind of sentiment that is why freelance artists do work for pennies. I still get people saying $60 for a fully colored page is too much.

That's a day's work at a minimum wage job. It takes at least 2 to do a whole page if I work nonstop.

Asking for donations for an extra page is not going to kill readers. Now.. I have seen people that ask for money for you to post ANY pages and that seems a bit more dishonest but still their prerogative to ask and a readers to deny.
