I actually like Teen Wolf, haha. I usually hate supernatural stuff like werewolves and vampires but for some reason I just find this show weirdly cute. All of the characters are so refreshingly earnest.

- Idk. Hot young folk, campy writing, werewolves.

- It's like the show is completely baiting in everyone into SPN, TVD, Twilight, and whatever is hip with the kids these days.

- And the fanwork makes me think it must be like the magic of Season 1 Merlin's fandom I've heard so much about.


Not getting it though, is actually also completely understandable and not difficult to imagine. S'okay, OP.


Also, off topic, but is this the first Teen Wolf secret? It wasn't even on my radar last year, so I probably missed any of the totally retro-by-now opinions.

Idk, anon. My boyfriend and I like riffing on it, because of how bad and cheesy it is, yelling advice to the dumb characters and pointing out all the HoYay and FoeYay. And mostly it's a great show to "watch" while we're making out.
I'm sure a majority of the fans aren't watching the show for those reasons, though, so idk, anon.

I, on the other hand, am loving it. It's refreshing to see a teen show that has adult characters in it that are just are involved/important as the kids. (And the kids never get away with anything. Fuck yeah.)
I also love the lack of homophobia




and the female characters are fantastic. Especially Allison reminds me of Buffy, a lot.



Okay so fine, maybe I started watching it for the half-naked guys and the blatant homo-eroticism, but (shockingly) I don't care about that as much anymore as I care about the plot/characters (male and female). I went for the fanservice, stayed because I genuinely enjoy the show.



Oh and can I talk about Derek? Of course I can. He's a gorgeous creepy ass stalker who's Edward Cullen levels of bad, but he never gets away with it. The other characters are always calling him out on it, and it's seriously really refreshing to see that.



Not to mention Peter and that psychotic new kid who stalks Lydia. They sure as hell don't get away with it either. Twilight, Vampire Diaries and True Blood, please take note.

It owns up to its cheesy cliches and caters to its fandom. There are a lot of interesting side characters. Everyone's so shippable with each other. It plays up popular tropes. There are shirtless shots of men at least once an ep. It tries to be inclusive of all family dynamics. Hm...what else could it be?

For me, I like it because it takes the horror/comedy genre seriously. I am a huge horror/comedy movie fan. I adore the likes of An American Werewolf In London, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil and Shaun of the Dead. This show is right up my alley. You can tell the writers are just as big fangirls/boys as those watching the show for those reasons.

If you want cheesiness, go watch the damn movies. That shit is full of cheese, plus Michael J. Fox playing basketball as a werewolf? Who could possibly say no? None of this drama bullshit and trying to act like it's srs business.

It's weirdly fun. I have no background on the show and I only watch the second half of the new episodes (I come home from work at 9:30 and watch the second half with my sister). We make weird commentaries about how ridiculous it is, but that's part of the fun.

Plus, my sister is super into the Stiles/Derek slash thing.

It's like Big Wolf on Campus, but less cheesy-- and Supernatural, but less stupid.

Decent characters, some interesting plots. Not the most amazing show, but worth checking out.
