As others have said, it's not like I enjoy hating Mako. I wanted to like him, especially since he's named after Iroh's voice actor.

Many fans have legitimate criticisms of his character. He's presented as the Ideal Love Interest, when he really isn't. At all. And that I think is the most troubling thing about his character.

I only hope they do a better job with him and his relationship with Korra next season.

This. I wanted to like Mako too, but I didn't think his actions should have been rewarded, or never even called out on. They wrote it as if we'd all be rooting for makorra while a lot viewers were just thought "huh?"

It's really not the character of mako that I dislike, even. I just don't like how he was presented to us.
