Curious, are there superheros who don't dress up in costumes? Just fight crime in sneakers, ratty jeans and a sweatshirt with mustard stains? Because I'd totally make the jump to comic book fandom for that.

~~~~But how will you keep your SECRET IDENTITY and your PASSION FOR CRIME FIGHTING separate without a costume?!?!~~~~ [/crazy sarcasm]
I dunno, actually. Even the Watchmen, with their normal-person-vigilante status, had costumes... Maybe some indie comics have them, but probably not the big two.
Nomad comes to mind. For quite some time he ran around in ripped jeans (worn, not designer!), random sweaters, and a trenchcoat.
Are we talking about Nomand, the "I'm going to kidnap this baby and name her Bucky" Nomad?
Luke Cage doesn't have a costume at the moment.
Luke Cage is running around naked? I like.
...oh, you mean...oh
By comic book authors logic there should totally be a male superhero running around in the buff distracting and intimidating people with his massive penis flopping against his thighs.
You're killing me.
And now I want to see aforementioned superhero bludgeon a bad guy to death with his wang of DOOM, hand on hips the whole time and a cheesy grin!
Lately I'm on such a roll for hilarious webcomic ideas.
I have been outclasses. I bow to your superior internet creeping skills.
/The worst part is that this looks familiar so I can't tell if I've seen this before and repressed it or I just looked into the abyss.
It's from "The Boys"
without doing any googling, I'm going to guess that Garth Ennis had a part in this.
You mean... like Dr. Manhattan of Watchmen?
Superboy from the Young Justice cartoon (and associated comic) only rocks jeans, boots, gloves, and a plain shirt with the S-logo.
The Question, in comics and elsewhere, has a mask, but otherwise just wears an average suit and coat - pull off the mask and s/he'd be normal.
The Runaways mostly don't seem to wear costumes (I say "seem" because I'm not following the comics). I think one or two of them have to dress to accommodate their powers, but most just throw on whatever.
That's all I got.
The Captain wears everyday looking clothes.
Well, if you're just going for Heros in Comic books, check out Channon Yarrow in Transmetropolitan. Ten kinds of awesome.
