Based on an above comment, it sounds like the OP was in a BDSM relationship that wasn't TPE/(D/s) or wasn't supposed to be, but became one.

OP, if I'm presuming too much, feel free to correct me. If not: there are Total Power Exchange relationships and 24/7 D/s relationships that are healthy (it sounds like, from your previous comment, you were in an unhealthy TPE or 24/7 D/s relationship. Try taking a look at the differences between the bad relationship you had and other similar relationships that you feel don't fulfill you. Zero in on/list out those differences, and maybe see if you can find a way to work those into a healthy relationship.
