I think the straight is in quotes because they didn't know what het-romantic was. Meaning straight attraction w/o sexual attraction.

Nope!

It's a lack of sexual attraction.

You can still get aroused (due to hormones and such). Plenty of asexuals masturbate. They just don't like having sex with other people.

I believe in aromantics because I dated one once, unfortunately long before the term became common enough for them to start using it. They initiated sexytiems with me so I spent several months trying to pursue an actual relationship with them before they sat me down and explained why this was not working.

I actually think I might be aromantic. :-( Although I've cared a great deal about people in my life before, I've never been 'in love' with anyone. I'm not even sure I'm capable of falling in love. Romantic things (like flowers, hand-holding, looking into each other's eyes) do nothing/mean nothing for me; I mostly just see them as the bearable work one must put in to keep a relationship, lol. I also don't tie in my enjoyment to sex with how much I love the other person.

I am capable of caring about someone and carrying on a serious long-term relationship, though.

I think I am, too. The idea of being in a romantic relationship is just one big ball of DO NOT WANT for me, and I also don't think sex has anything at all to do with love.
