Actually, some fandoms do ignore fanfic and praise fanart much more. It's just a case-to-case scenario, and I guess it's a minority from what I see in the other comments. For instance, from my own fandoms, Okami had very few good fanfics for it as its own visual appeal calls good artists more than good writers.

It also depends of the place you look for: on LJ/DW, fanfic tends to get much more feedback; on Tumblr, fanart and graphics get most notes while anything with just text in it tends to gets ignored. Meanwhile, a fic-oriented fandom has larger presence in FF.net/AO3 than dA, while an art-oriented fandom is the other way around.

Oh yes, now that most of my fandom has moved to tumblr, no one gives a shit about fanfic. It's all about fanart. Reviews on the kink meme have gone down like forty percent and no one bothers looking for anything that a BNF didn't do.

how's your fandom doing on AO3? Ever since I started really using that site I just stopped bothering with kink memes, since there's a lot of crossover anyway and kink memes are notoriously a pain in the ass to search within.

Only the BNFs get any sort of major feedback. If you aren't one, have fun with your two guest kudos.

Tumblr has a lousy format for fic. Honestly, it's still only a so-so on the art too. You can like art, and if you're so inclined, reblog, but really commenting on art, or any kind of critiques just isn't as clean as it is on LJ or dA. And it's not really an easy format for conversations.
