Hey, hey, hey.

Being asexual is perfectly acceptable. But I seriously pity you if you go through life without knowing the joys of shoe shopping.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Shoe shopping is my biggest nightmare since I have huge feet.

No shoes fit me. So fuck shoe shopping, seriously.

I have flat & extremely wide, very short feet, so shoe shopping is almost always a fruitless endeavor. But damn if looking at gorgeous shoes doesn't just make the world seem brighter~

I think I love shoe shopping because shoes are literally the only thing that fits me well. I hate shopping for clothes (especially shirts or dresses) because nothing fits.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, shoe shopping isn't the only thing that gets me in a frothy rage. Clothes don't fit me well either. I like jewelry shopping though, I have so many earrings.

I stopped trying to wear jewelry when I discovered I had a really bad nickel allergy as a kid (not just nickel, even stainless steel and other metals break out my skin). When I was nine I got my ears pierced and that's how I found out. They grew back in and the only jewelry I wore after that were rings, and they kept getting lost. So I never got that big into jewelry.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-29 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahh jeez, that sucks :( I have a mild nickel allergy, but I can wear stainless steel at least.

I'm a little envious that your ears at least got a chance to grow back in. I kept wearing earrings, frequent allergic reactions and infections and all, for about 6-8 years before I realized it wasn't worth it. So now I'm stuck with these holes in my ears that I'd rather not have.

Augh, that's awful :(

I could've gotten mine pierced again by a doctor under sterile conditions but I just chose not to. I'm oddly proud of the fact that I'm completely devoid of any body modification actually

Me too. My mom keeps telling me to get my ears pierced and I have to remind her every single time that I don't need it and I don't want it.

I love jewelry shpping. I have way too many necklaces.

I have the opposite problem. I'm a size 6 and whenever I arrive at "The Biggest Shoe Sale of the Year!!!" nothing's left in my size. It's like they make one pair for the smallest and largest sizes and the rest for all those lucky 7s,8s,and 9s.

I'm a US size 9 and my size sells out pretty quickly too. But yeah, 6-9 are pretty common women's shoe sizes.

Right now I'm realizing that European shoe sizes are totally different and I can't tell if I'm a 40 or 39 and that's making things difficult for me. Also, European shoes tend to be narrower than American shoes which sucks.

I think you should definitely go for a size 40 if you're a US size 9, especially since shoes here can indeed be narrow.

Well, I thought that too, so I got these Swedish clog sandals in a size 40 and they feel a bit too big. Oh well.

AFAIK, northern European countries (Sweden, Norway and Germany at least) tend to actually size bigger for shoes and clothes than, say, France (since that's where I'm from).

People on average are taller over there, especially women, and also I think they're more inclusive, so they do tend to carry slightly bigger sizes.

One of my friends with long feet usually has to order on "big size" specialized stores in France, but in Germany she finds stuff in regular shoe shops as well.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-30 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
I hear you - I'm a 5/6 (depends on type of shoe) and not only can I never find shoes on sale, but a lot of the time I can't find shoes at all because "all our styles start at size 6!"

Yeah. Lots of fun to be had there.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-04 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I wear shoes in the range from 5 all the way up to 6 1/2 depending on the fit of the shoe since some run small. But usually I end up in size 5 or 5 1/2, I feel your pain. A lot of shoe companies don't make shoes smaller than 6 or 6 1/2 either. It's a serious pain unless I feel like buying childrens shoes which usually aren't made to last as long.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-30 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
I hear you, I wear US women's size 12. And I hate heels (I'm tall-ish, they throw off my already iffy balance, and they hurt).
kallanda_lee: (Default)

[personal profile] kallanda_lee 2012-07-30 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, you got me beat. I'm a size 42 EU (which is like a size 11) - however, I do actually like heels and I enjoy being tall in them.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-30 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
ayrt

I'm 5'9", which isn't that tall, but put me in anything with a heel high than an inch or so and I feel like a giant. That might have something to do with getting my growth spurt early and feeling like I towered over everyone (and even though that was a couple of decades ago, I remember it well). Also, as stated before, I'm sort of clumsy and even when I'm barefoot, I sometimes move in a manner that could best be described as a lurch.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-30 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I'm 11 and 1/2 in US women's. I wish I could wear heels, but I have foot problems (that also prevent me from wearing flats).

[personal profile] elialshadowpine 2012-07-30 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
I have small but wide feet. I hate it too.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-30 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
I loathe shoes and shoe shopping. As far as I'm concerned shoes are ugly necessary evils useful only for protecting one's feet from the elements, and high heels are the work of Satan. I buy a pair of flats every couple of years, tops--I have one I wear for everyday running around and a nicer one I keep in good shape for when I need to look respectable, and I just replace the everyday pair when it wears out so badly I'm embarrassed to be seen in public.

I also used to work in a shoe store, and I felt like an utterly dishonest tool of the corporate/consumerist establishment when women would come in and tell me how mad their husbands were going to be at them for running up the family credit cards buying multiple pairs of shoes they didn't need.

(Personally if I'm gonna piss my husband off over money, I want at least a new hard drive out of the deal) XD

(Anonymous) 2012-07-30 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, the fancy-shoes-become-everyday-shoes-become-walking-shoes rotation. I know it well.

Huge feet and bland/picky taste here, so when I find something that I can actually wear, I basically use it until the holes comprise more surface area than the actual shoe.
