I actually feel this way sometimes, too. I think part of that is becuase of being in an anime fandom, so there is more fanart available that fanfic. And I do like fanart--I keep a folder of it that I look through when I want inspiration for my writing.

But on some level, I'm always afraid that fanart is going to take over fandom and that fanfic will completely disappear. And the popularity of sites like Tumbler makes me almost convinced that it's just a matter of time.

It's already sort of happening in my fandom. Tumblr made it so that no one cares about fanfics. Fanfics aren't really considered unless they're smutty where used to character driven fics and general romances were pretty popular as well.

Tbh I'm starting to feel disconnected because I love fanfic and there isn't any really new ones coming out now.
