(Anonymous) 2012-08-01 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)Any actual 'fanartist' as being discussed here would likely be ineligible, as there are few pieces of 'fanart' actually published, for reasons detailed elsewhere in this thread (primarily copyright).
Basically, there are two kinds of fandom: new (characterized by Tumblr, kinkmemes, and a greater percentage of 'younger' fen) and old (characterized by zines [which still exist!], smaller general 'genre' conventions, generally older or lit/acafen, and longer livejournal posts), and while there's crossover, the Hugos come from and represent the old school more than anything else.
