This movie pissed me off with the dnw ~drama~ and romance.

I don't get the costumes they're shown in. Office worker, cowboy, soldier, fireman and ??? (I can't tell what the last one is). Do male strippers actually dress like that?

Maybe I'm weird, but I don't find any jobs sexy, so I don't get the appeal of sexed-up job uniforms.

French maid uniforms, sexy nurses, sexy cowgirls, I could go on.

Sexyfied outfits are not a turn on for me but full uniform are.

They do. In the US, at least. Those are all pretty common stripper costumes. I believe the last one was supposed to be some sort of military apparel (it looked like a corset to me, though, which was...interesting).

Policeman, firefighter, and military uniforms are all really common to the point of being stereotypical male stripper wear.

this movie irritated me so much. It was marketed as complete fluff and that's what I (and my friends) were expecting when we went in. We ended up TOTALLY depressed at the end. Big bunch of dnw. The only way I'd watch it again is if they cut out all the poorly-written and poorly-acted "plot" crap and extended the stripping scenes.

That is such a bummer to hear. Not that I wouldn't have expected some serious stuff to work it's way in there in on the side, but nobody was going to that movie primarily for drama.

LOL, that's like bitching about "The Full Monty" because it was about economic depression. Welcome to an adult movie - and I don't mean the stripping. ;-)

That movie was so jank that I would've enjoyed them just showing the misadventures of male strippers in Florida and not demonizing the entire profession like they did.

Agreed. I went in expecting a fun, fluffy time and came out with the least happy expression on my face. I wanted male strippers, not "let's watch a dude destroy himself with drugs, alcohol, and women".

"Magic Mike" is NOT, I repeat, NOT worth altering your plans for. I'm a fairly passive person who rarely hates on anything but sweet Jesus I *hated* that movie.

That said, I hope you and your friend have lots fun together before your departure, MM-viewing or not. :D

I don't think it was a genuinely bad movie, just that it was marketed as fluff when it was about addiction and how nobody can have a good or happy life as a stripper. Most of the stripper scenes are in the trailers.

Don't put off your plans for this movie. It's not a good, fun time. It's depressing as shit.

Aww, that sucks, I'm sorry. It's a fun movie to see with friends. And it's definitely funny. Channing is freakishly charming.

This movie was a waste and needed more Matt Bomer action

Never seen male strippers IRL, but if it's just grabbing your cock and thrusting (which is pretty much everyone except Channing Tatum in this film) I'll save my money and go to a club on a Friday night.

Also, me and my friends came out wanting them to have made more of the whole economic crisis they touch on in one scene. It's a stupidly-made film where they decided they needed DRAMA and so threw in all of the cliches they could think of (attack by clients, drug dealing, overdose, economic issues, gang members) but ONLY IN ONE SCENE EACH.

Didn't and won't watch it. I'm not into the whole "OMG BUFF HAWT" kind of guy. I prefer lean, brooding, intense, melancholy, intelligent, possibly with glasses and an English accent.
