That movie was so jank that I would've enjoyed them just showing the misadventures of male strippers in Florida and not demonizing the entire profession like they did.

this is exactly what I was trying to say but in more concise terms, so thank you! lol

You're very welcome.

I went to see it yesterday and I can't tell you anything about it because it was so forgettable.

Agreed. I went in expecting a fun, fluffy time and came out with the least happy expression on my face. I wanted male strippers, not "let's watch a dude destroy himself with drugs, alcohol, and women".

I think The Kid's subplot had been taken out and focus on the other strippers, I would have enjoyed it. HERE'S ANOTHER THING: They (The actors who basically had only a few scenes and lines, but got top billing) fucking promoted it like it was this silly romp that showed a view into male stripping not this after-school special bullshit.

Yeah. I'm not annoyed enough to actually complain anywhere but the Internet and warn people off it, but it really sucked that I was expecting a raunchy good time and didn't even get a happily ever after at the end.

I don't think Magic Mike was a genuinely bad movie. If it had been advertised for what it was, it could have been intriguing, if a bit annoying in the "you can't be happy being a stripper" moral. It's about a guy taking pity on an lazy, entitled kid and both of them getting screwed over in the process. Basically a "don't trust the kid who lies about knowing construction and steals two sodas on his first day" moral. It's really just that it was marketed to a very select group of people looking for a very specific type of good time. No one thought it was going to be a good movie going in but it had a bunch of hot guys in little to no clothing. That's really why it seems to be such a bad movie.
