I know she's the bigger star, but it pisses me off so much that she gets slut-shamed and everything while the guy gets a pass. It's not her responsibility to not destroy his family, it's his. I don't think that it can or should be determined who's "more to blame", but honestly, at least blame them equally.

This. Somebody asked me today who I felt worse for, "Edward or Bella" and I told her the people worst off are the married director's wife and children, what the fuck

MTE. I mean, yeah, of course Rob deserves sympathy too, but he's "just" her boyfriend. They aren't married, and more importantly, they don't have children.

LMAO what? They...they do realize that Edward and Bella aren't real, right? The actors' personalities as the characters and their personalities as real human beings are two totally different things, why would they even word it like that?

Today, you've learned a truth about the Twilight fandom and celebrity fandom. You have now become wiser, but at a cost.

I imagine that the slut shaming is bad in a lot of places which is why I'm enjoying the scandal from ONTD which is mostly slut shaming free and primarily focused on making fun of the delusional Robsten fans.

(Although I do think that both Kristen and the director guy are shitty people for cheating on their significant others.)

Does the fact that their breakup makes me happy just because all of the ickle twilight fans are now crying into their keyboards make me a bad person?

BUT OMG. The diehard Robsten fans have been making "I support Kristen" signs and then taking pictures of themselves holding them and posting them online. It is pretty golden.

Also, all the desperate attempts to prove that the pictures were photoshopped. OMG.

*snickers* I think I'll now headcanon Bella getting bored of Edward and cheating on him in a few years b/c turns out that teen crushes may be intense but don't last forever.

Me three. I was having the worse week when all this crap broke, so I took a little trip to tumblr to see how fans were reacting. It was just the laugh I needed.

Of course, now that it's been a while, I'm starting to feel a little concerned for some of them. Crying hysterically for four days straight because your favorite celebrity couple broke up is not healthy.

Wait, what? Have we not been reading the same (gazillion) posts there? Because yeah, while there absolutely is a metric fuck-ton of Robsten fan mocking going on, there's also been an almost suffocating amount of slut shaming. People are acting as if KStew personally cheated on them. Perhaps it's part of the general herd mentality that pervades that site, but that's a whole mess of disgustingly negative energy to be thrown at someone - someone who, while making a fucked up mistake, doesn't deserve to be virtually raked over the coals for being a flawed human being.

Calling Kristen out for being a shitty person for cheating on her boyfriend is not slut shaming.

Slut shaming would be calling her a whore or a homewrecker and that kind of attitude has been kept to a minimum.

You've got to be kidding me. The whore, trampire, homewrecker is almost every other comment. I don't know what posts you've been reading or maybe you're skipping pages but it's incredibly prevalent.

Yeah, I do pretty much think the entire overall reaction has been way over the top, but I actually was also referring to people calling her a whore, slut and homewrecker. There's been so, so much of it.

Condemning her actions? Sure. I can't speak for the delusional faction out there, but for the rest of, what she did isn't cool. Condemning the person, though - specifically slut-shaming or not - in my book, that's not cool, either. Especially when it's being done with such vitriol.

Well, gender is probably be a partial factor, but in this case a much bigger factor is that she is a celebrity and nobody knows or cares who he is. Without checking the internets, can you recall his name?

Slut shaming is terrible. If someone's shaming her for having sex, that is bad. But *cheating* is a bad thing, and I have no problem if someone who isn't a slut-shamey asshole is shaming her exclusively for the cheating part of it.

Disclaimer: I have no problem with consensually open relationships. The key part, there, is that everyone involved knows what's going on and is okay with it.

What exactly do you consider equal blame? Equal coverage? Cause you're never gonna get that. She's the highest paid female movie star right now, no magazine is gonna lead a story where she was involved in an affair with the man, a relatively unknown director, as the lead. I hate to hear people call her names like "slut" and "homewrecker", but mainly because I don't think there's any place for names like that (I especially hate hearing people call her a "cunt", that word is never okay). I've heard the director called a creepy pedofile (cause 22 is practically underage, don't you know), I've heard him accused of forcing her, blackmailing her, working with his wife to publicity embarrass her. Kristen gets the press headlines cause she's more famous and fans are invested in Robert and "Robsten", but I have yet to read any articles that claim she seduced him, or that she's solely to blame.

It reminds me of the Tiger Woods debacle; how much blame got placed on the women he cheated with? Or Jesse James (Sandra Bullock's ex-husband), his mistress got press cause she sought it out, but the stories centered on him and Tiger cause they were the more famous people involved.

Yeah, I agree with this. I don't think she's entirely blameless, either, but they both should share the blame. (IN fact, considering he's so much older than her I would probably be more inclined to blame him even more--he's way, way old enough to know better at this point).

This! I don't condone cheating, but the director dude was not only much older and in a position of power and is the one with a wife and kids.
