"girls are not supposed to be unattractive"? uhh you can't help what your genetics are... I get your meaning but that seems like a weird way of putting it. Like if girls are unattractive they're rebelling against the system and get kicked out of society to live on the outskirts of life in an unattractive girl colony. /lol tangent

Idk this secret is strange. People can find other people attractive based on more than just whether they are classically attractive. If everyone in the world was only attracted to people that look like celebrities (assuming that is what you mean by classically attractive) then... idk the population would be drastically smaller I imagine.

I'm pretty sure that it's saying that society doesn't 'like' unattractive girls as much as they do unattractive men, if that makes sense? I think OP is pretty bitter though, which makes the secret more of a rant.

men experience different kinds of discrimination? Though I'm not ready to go wading in some masculinist hell-hole to go find some legit ones, I am sure they exist. I am all about calling sexism when it's legitimate, but I don't really sympathize with this. I guess I'm thin, but I'm far from "classically attractive", and I don't have anywhere near the complex this girl has.

We have a show in Germany which is called "the model and the freak" and it basically shows supposedly "ugly" nerds being made as clasically attractive as possible by a couple of models. If it would really be about helping them feel more confident and attractive I wouldn't mind but this whole show is really degrading.

So yeah, I don't think "ugly" guys have it any easier than "ugly" girls.

Really? Guys are given a lot more leeway personality or skill wise. They're allowed to be defined by so many more things and are valued outside of their appearance. Whereas people mock supreme court justices for not being "fuckable" when they are women. The definition of attractive for men is also a helluva lot broader and easier to achieve. A woman is pretty much hot or not and it's generally viewed as a personal failure if she isn't.

And yes I realize I'm a bitter old spinster (at 23) because I have a hard time getting through Wall-e without getting a bit pissed that he can find love and I can't. Of course real life is too boring/depressing to make a movie of. It does "help" that I have to listen to my coworkers endlessly complain about their girlfriends and wives - guys are all douchbags and women settle ^^

And even being "hot" isn't enough to "win". See how often attractive women in high positions are derided and rumored to have slept their way to the top, and heaven help the woman not dressing conservatively enough or wearing make-up. (Or not dressing liberally enough and not wearing make-up.)

I'm not saying that men don't have other ridiculous stuff to deal with in society, but women sometimes just can't win because they're judged on looks first.
