Oh I LOVE Sherlock/John, but when I'm on tumblr I only look at art and graphics. I scroll past everything else and it saves me some time and frustration.

I do understand the urge to sometimes scrutinize things that don't necessarily need scrutinizing, especially when it comes to a ship I love, but I try to keep that to myself when the urge strikes me. (Because yes, I realize it's silly.)

This is it exactly! The problem is the people that don't get it's silly and fun and not srs bzns

I think for the majority it is silly fun (not meant to be serious in any way, and some people might misinterpret that) but that said...I'm sure there are people who genuinely pick apart every little word and movement by their favorite characters to support their head-canon and ships, and are 100% serious about it. If they want to do that, alright, but if anyone is using those things to be rude or try to act superior because their ship is ‘better‘ and has more ‘proof’, I can understand the frustration.

But I haven't watched the videos OP was referring to, so I have no idea of what's going on in this particular case.
