I get that you find it annoying -I get kind of peeved about it, but that's just because I'm not really into shipping- but at the same time, it makes me wonder what rock you've been hiding under?? I don't think that "writing sentiment and romantic subtext" or "pointing out all of these 'moments' that don't really exist" is something exclusive to the Sherlock fandom. Actually, I'm pretty darn sure it's something you see in most fandoms.

I've seen two episodes of this, thought it was fairly good (nothing amazing), but jesus, the Sherlock/Watson fans on tumblr have made me never want to watch it. I really can't tell whether it's because of them that I find the homoerotic implications forced and fanservicey.

I've gotten a bit burned out on the Reichenbach Feels, but for me it's with fic. I'll read just about anything but a Reichenbach-related fic now. There are only so many times I can read it, even if it's by different authors.

When I'm really into the heat of the moment with a series I can find subtext in EVERYTHING but then usually when I step back I realize that I was kind of being delusional lol

Yeah. The squeeing fangirls on tumblr who are all like "LOOK HE LOOKED AT HIM IN ONE GIF OMG TV BOYFRANS ALL WOMEN CAN SUCK IT FOREVER" really grate me too.

Why is everyone so intent on making Sherlock ~sentimental~ and ~romantic~? God, grates on me. I like Sherlock the way he is, but all I ever see in fic from most "Johnlock" shippers is Sherlock becoming normalized and romantic and wonderful and ugh. I JUST WANT SHERLOCK TO BE A CRAZY, MISUNDERSTOOD, KINKY MAD SCIENTIST, OK?

. . .I have a lot of feelings about sentimentalizing Sherlock.

Oh I LOVE Sherlock/John, but when I'm on tumblr I only look at art and graphics. I scroll past everything else and it saves me some time and frustration.

I do understand the urge to sometimes scrutinize things that don't necessarily need scrutinizing, especially when it comes to a ship I love, but I try to keep that to myself when the urge strikes me. (Because yes, I realize it's silly.)

I've actually just finished watching Sherlock via Netflix and I am in love (both with the show and with John/Sherlock). I've just sort of divorced myself (for lack of a better term) from the SPN fandom and would like to avoid The Crazy as much as I can. I'd really hate to be driven out of this story after it's taken me so long to find something else I'm this passionate about.

Would anyone be so kind as to point me towards some places that are fun and active with a limited amount of crazy?

Any other tips are welcome, of course.

I just like the picture for this secret. Sherlock's contemplative like he's either thinking of doing something borderline affectionate or something really really terrible and Watson's expression is all "He's giving me that disturbing look again, isn't he? Yeah, he does that a lot."

I actually just unfollowed a bunch of people... because they wouldn't stop bitching about the Sherlock fandom. You know what's JUST as annoying as the Sherlock fandom? THE PEOPLE WHO WON'T STOP BITCHING ABOUT IT. I'd rather sit through one or two crazy fan's posts than ten who keep complaining about those two. At least the crazy fans are enjoying themselves.

But I'm going to agree at least on the point of annoying tumblr ship manifestos that offer total evidence of any ship, in any fandom, being canon. I scroll on by the moment I see the two seconds of a backpat and "thank you" getting analyzed.

Tumblr saviour. Before I had it, I scoffed at it, wondered if it would really be necessary, but now? TUMBLR SAVIOUR ALL THE THINGS. My list just gets longer and longer every day. Oh, but the most hilarious thing it's time for the mtv awards, and people reach so hard for scenes/aspects that fit the "best something" criteria. The Arthur/Ariadne kiss for Best Kiss? Yeah, sure.

I was sympathetic up to the "What Would Sherlock Do" bit at the end, which made me raise a brow. Sherlock's fictional. He doesn't think anything except what we real people make him think through the power of our (dirty) imagination. So by that reasoning, he'd be all for being shipped constantly with Watson. Nothing he wouldn't love better.
