Chronic sinus headaches?
(Anonymous) 2012-08-04 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)I constantly have a sinus headache, no matter what I take or do. Sometimes it's not really that bad (an irritation mostly) and sometimes I can't move b/c of the pain.
I know it's in my sinuses, but idk what else to do. All the medication I've been given doesn't work and even one time managed to fuck up my lungs.
I could just really use some advice or something.
Re: Chronic sinus headaches?
(Anonymous) 2012-08-04 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)just above your eyebrows, starting from the sides, and finishing at where the top of your nose starts
or maybe just putting your hands against it and see if the warmth helps
and drink water just after waking up, before eating anything
that's helped me, but it's not chronic exactly in my case
anyway, the idea is to, er, rehydrate the stuff there? so that it can flow out again
Re: Chronic sinus headaches?
(Anonymous) 2012-08-04 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)Massaging helps, but I can't do it constantly (my headaches are constant, unfortunately).
I find that cool compresses work better to relieve pain, but warm things might help in the long run hmmm.
Haha, the only thing I drink is water (and occasionally a pop or two). So, I should probably keep doing that so they don't get worse.
Re: Chronic sinus headaches?
(Anonymous) 2012-08-04 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)like cashay below said, maybe you're allergic to something where you live that is continuously affecting you
I don't know the word in English for it, but does your house/bedroom have anything like this:

Re: Chronic sinus headaches?
(Anonymous) 2012-08-04 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)But that's okay! Thank you for your advice anyway (and the article, it was very interesting...I'll have to watch for that.)
Re: Chronic sinus headaches?
(Anonymous) 2012-08-05 01:27 am (UTC)(link)It's very common where I live and it can get very tedious to combat it, because you have to actually scrape the wall and put in chemicals to fight it and hope it doesn't go too deep into the wall/soil because then it's a recurrent problem.
It's pretty much the main thing that has caused me sinusitis problems, which is why it was the first thing that came to mind.
I really really hope that you find a solution. *hugs* Good luck!
Re: Chronic sinus headaches?
Did they ever test you for allergies?
Re: Chronic sinus headaches?
(Anonymous) 2012-08-04 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)How long have the headaches been going on?
foreverrrrAt least since four-three years ago has been when they started being chronic, and it's only recently (like a year or so) that they've gotten worse.I've been tested in the past. And I'm allergic to pretty much everything but cats and food :P
Re: Chronic sinus headaches?
A friend of mine has problems with her sinuses always being closed, she's now taking some medication that you actually aren't supposed to take long term but neither her nor her boss (both allergic to hay and working with animals ^^") had any problems. It's the only thing that opens her sinuses.
I have to ask her how it's called but it's already late her so I'll have to ask her tomorrow =/
Also did you ever try putting some ethereal oils and/or camomille and salt into boiling/hot water and then putting a towel over your head and inhaling the stuff? It used to help me when I was having sinus troubles.
Re: Chronic sinus headaches?
(Anonymous) 2012-08-04 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)That stuff sounds awesome.
And no, never tried that! Thank you~ I'll try it out.

Re: Chronic sinus headaches?
This is what helps me: Excedrin, extra-strength Sudafed. Steaming my sinuses (like hanging my face over a boiling pot of water). I tried a Neti Pot once, and it helped a lot, but my nostrils are small so it was a pain in the ass and I got water everywhere. Menthol and peppermint-y scents.
Those are the best things I can suggest. I have sinus migraines all the time and that's just the way it is, unfortunately.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-05 02:14 am (UTC)(link)Re: Chronic sinus headaches?
Would this apply to you at all, maybe? If not, you might try one of those other things I mentioned ...
Re: Chronic sinus headaches?
(Anonymous) 2012-08-05 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)Two to three times a day. You may need to combo up with Sinutab / Sudafed for about a week, but I even got my sense of smell back. This is after years of steroid sprays, multiple rounds of antibiotics, and going through sinus pills in boxes of 24s like they were candy. Have also tried the NeilMed squeeze bottle, with mixed results; sometimes it helped, sometimes it didn't, at all times it made me gag.
The maintenance (using it daily, even when I am breathing freely) is really the only issue I have. Which is not reflective on the gel itself. There are a few other brands out there, but they're all essentially the same thing, you can probably get the store brand for cheapest (tho' this isn't very expensive either).
