I was skeptical at first, but it turns out that tumblr is lots of fun if you're a fanartist. My art gets loads more exposure and attention there than it has ever gotten on LJ, and it's fucking awesome to be in a place where I don't have to write fic to feel like I'm making a meaningful contribution to fandom.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't feel like your fanart wasn't getting much exposure on LJ! ...Tumblr sucks for us fanficcers, though. :( I wish there was a site that would work for both of us equally.

I think Fanficcing can work fine with Tumblr. I don't post my fics on tumbler directly. I post them on my LJ, FF.net & AO3 and then make a post on tumblr with the links (and tagged appropriately). I doubt I would get much, if any, exposure otherwise since I'm not an established author.

Seconding this so hard. On Tumblr it feels a lot less like I'm just throwing art into a void!

Though there is definitely a problem with art theft and refusal to credit. I've known some people who have had the ~joy~ of discovering that something they posted that only got a few notes was not reblogged, but actually POSTED FRESH WITHOUT CREDIT and had more notes than the original post. Guh.
