I was babysitting my little brother one night during the wintertime. I was... in middle school I think?

Some guy knocked on the door. Wrong house. I closed the door behind him. Then I went to bed.

I woke up to the sound of my parents knocking on the door. Apparently I had locked it. My parents never locked the house, so of course they didn't have keys on them like responsible people.

They grounded me for two weeks for ACCIDENTALLY locking them out in the cold. To add insult to injury, this was during winter break.

I COULD HAVE PLAYED POKEMON STADIUM 2 FOR TWO WEEKS :( Instead I had to watch as my little brother did.

Me, bitter? Naaaaaah.

Gee, you'd think they'd have rewarded you for locking the door like a responsible adult.

Very lame of them.

Ooo, that reminds me.

When my sister and I shared a room, my parents had the rule that after we were read to and tucked in we could pretty much do whatever we wanted so long as we weren't noisy. This was mostly because I was a voracious reader, and the only way I used the rule was for late night reading.

Until one day I realized I could just play Mario Party 2, as we had an N64 in our room. My sister was staying up doing whatever as I played, but eventually she wanted to go to sleep. And apparently she had to go get our parents to tuck her back in and it was completely non-negotiable.

My gaming time was limited, and I was worried getting caught here would get me in trouble. Thinking back, I could have just turned off the tv and nothing would have happened. But alas, I was young and stupid, and my sister got my mom back into the room and she saw me playing.

Apparently "video games" did not fit under the "anything quiet" blanket and I had MP2 taken away until I cleaned our entire room. My mom was somewhat impressed with my thinking outside the box, though.
