See, this is precisely what I love about sites like this or LJ, as opposed to Tumblr. Here we're having this pretty nice discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of Tumblr, people giving tips, others ask and others answer, really lovely.

On Tumblr, on the other hand, while it is a really good platform to find fanart and squeeing, is really awfull for other kinds of interaction. I'm really having trouble adapting to the Tumblr fandom culture, and a couple of months since I joined I haven't been able to get a single answer from anyone and that really baffles me. I guess you can say I'm having a kind of a culture shock.

If it were easier to have discussions like this, then Tumblr would be perfect for me.

The tumblr cultures is basically this, from what I saw:

Instant gratification, no matter what. Spend a few hours catching up with everyone's posts and reblogs or fall behind.

Like many people have described it and with my own addition, it's like shouting into a void and have some answers echoing back with reaction gifs and sparkly colorful pictures, ad infinitum.

There are some circles where you can struggle against the design of the website to hold real, actual conversations and discussions, but that's the exception and not the norm.
