I use tumblr every day and I find it is an effective fandom tool seeing as how you can know exactly what's going on in the fandom and with the other fans and find fanworks and the like easily.

Downside is that it's very easy to cause drama though with varying opinions sharing one tag.

I do have problems with the technical aspects. No private messaging. The 'ask' thing is extremely limited and I find I can never say everything I wanted to in that. The only real way to carry on a conversation is reblogging and you can keep an eye on that if you click the title of your blog next to "Dashboard".

I think it takes some getting used to if your new to tumblr, but you can usually work around the problems. People actually have long-winded discussions/rants/role-plays on tumblr, so yeah...
