I love series five, but series six was seriously awful. He was up himself, making too many big plot twists for no reason and ruining River's character. The stand alone episodes weren't as fun either. The only ones I liked were the opening two-parter and The Girl Who Waited.

Totally agreed. I liked season 5 (despite still being fuzzy on why exactly the Tardis exploded) but season 6 was just a mess. And he keeps shoving River down the viewer's throat, which I wouldn't mind if she was more a character than a plot twist. And the Doctor is such a jerk, which I know he can be but at points he just doesn't seem like he gives a shit about anyone at all which is really awkward and ooc (can something be ooc if it's canon...)

I loved Girl Who Waited though, it finally gave me some Amy characterisation I loved and now I ship Amy and Rory hard (and I'm terrified of what season 7 is going to do to them). I liked the opening two-parter for Canton!

I actually liked the mid-season finale and the God Complex but I can't stand River anymore because she's shoved down the viewers throat =/

River is like a shorthand for what Moffat does wrong. He has these great notions and then he gets so damn excited about them that he starts plastering them all over and shoving them in your face like he's trying to say "LOOK! LOOK HOW CLEVER I AM!" and it's just like, dude, chill, shut up, I'll appreciate it way better if it's not all up in my nostrils and I have enough distance to actually SEE it. He needs to, like, pitch ideas at someone else who can actually write.

I agree with this so much, and not just about Doctor Who. Whenever I can practically feel an author winking at me and going "Aren't I clever?" I lose interest very quickly.

I agree - I really enjoyed S5 - it and 4 might be my favorites, but S6 was pretty much a disaster.

Agreed.

Five is the only season I own, and Eleven is my favorite doctor. But last season was not very good. Everything that I loved about season 5 they tried to redo, but in fail! kind of way.

But The Girl Who Waited made me bawl like a fucking baby.
