yeah. I don't feel a huge undying rage for him but I feel like he should leave soon. I've enjoyed the recent seasons despite their problems but I will feel no sadness when he leaves. (Please, don't let him stay showrunner forever. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD)

Seriously this.

I hated the last series of Doctor Who so much. I'm seriously hoping this series will be better, but with Moffat still at the helm I'm not gonna hold my breath. I didn't mind series 5 too much, but series 6 I mostly hated - with just 3 exceptions... none of which Moffat wrote!

I'm so pissed off that he'll be in charge of the 50th anniversary special too.

Maybe in three or four years you'll get another head writer that you do like.

I think he's a subpar writer in addition to be a raging asshole and I can't wait until he leaves. Idk how I feel about Gatiss taking over though. He seems like a nice enough man, but he is not a very good writer. Victory of the Daleks was AWFUL and I thought Closing Time was boring as fuck. The Idiot's Lanter was saved by Billie and David's chemistry.

The Unquiet Dead is pretty ok though.

I love series five, but series six was seriously awful. He was up himself, making too many big plot twists for no reason and ruining River's character. The stand alone episodes weren't as fun either. The only ones I liked were the opening two-parter and The Girl Who Waited.

Gatiss was good as the Master but I shudder at the idea of letting him write *anything* else, much less run another show. (Seriously there are many good things about Sherlock but the plots are not one of them.)

I just think it worked better when RTD was controlling things, and Moffat wrote separate episodes. Moffat can do so really brilliant one-offs, but he's crap at intricate story archs.

Three years ago I would have agreed with Gatiss as a showrunner, but now I kind of think he's in Moffat's pocket and wouldn't be that much better than him. Paul Cornell for new showrunner please.

And yes he is the worst thing to happen to the show, by far.

I agree. His one-shots are quite fun, but the way he writes characters is awful. I don't care much about epic storylines if the characters are going to act like raging, unsympathetic assholes (Amy is an asshole who flirts around with her goddamn husband right there, Rory is a spineless idiot and River... let's not even get started on her. She was okay when we only saw her for a few episodes but now I just want to punch her in the face. SPOILERS! MYSTERY! LOOK AT ME I'M SO AWESOME OLOLOLOLO).

I'm still pissed he ruined what I considered to be one of the best shows on TV. I had to stop at S6 because I just didn't care for the characters anymore.

Moffat's run annoys me, but it's at least made DW accessible to a wider audience (imo at least). Not to mention the production values that means I don't have to give anyone a forewarning of "give the cheese a chance" when they sit down with me. It's not fair to say he's the worst thing to happen to the series. To characterisation and story, yeah, but not to the series when you consider its success so far.

also, wtf Gatiss? I always wonder why exactly the fandom, and the Sherlock fandom too, considers this guy to somehow be Moffat's suckiness filter. His DW episodes are so damn boring and immemorable. He made Daleks boring how the fuck.

Series 6 was hands down the worst series of new who. There are actually a lot of people who want Moffat gone after that mess.

Agreed! Although I'd vastly prefer Toby Whithouse over Gatiss. Gatiss seems like a cool dude and he's a good writer but his eps are nothing special IMO.

I'm so ready for him to go! I'm pissed that his bullshit all over the place storylines have made my 80 year old grandma not want to watch it with me anymore. I mean, we still rent the old ones and watch them, and watching her fangirl over Tom Baker cracks me up every time, but I miss the days when she'd get excited to watch the new ones with me.

Because the overemotional, overdramatic, not-at-all-Doctor-like shit we got at the end of Ten's run was sooooooo much better.

I'm sorry, I hated that ending and wanted to throw my TV out the window. And I hated how everyone was all, "I CRIED, IT WAS SO EMOTIONAL." No, it was drivel and so overdramatic and just. It sucked. It wasn't good at all.

Speaking as someone who adored s5 and abhorred s6, I generally agree - but please, no Mark Gatiss as showrunner. He does alright on Sherlock, but as a DW writer, I personally find his stories to be "meh" at best.
