They're different. Tobey was more of a "guy you're supposed to root for who has horrible things happen to him outside his control and you want to see shit get better." While Andrew was more of a "shitty things happen because he does shitty stuff and you relate to him and want to see him fix his mistakes and learn."

The themes of the two separate Spider-movieverses are completely different. Each worked in their own. If someone likes one more than the other, that's okay. It's okay and you don't need to be a twat. Spider-man stories exist with both versions of Peter Parker.
