Yes, yes,YES!

I love this show (& just started watching Motorcity, which is not as good but still great.), and while I love FiM, even the GF episodes I don't really like (2 and 8) are better than the bad FiM episodes.

If only we could avoid replicating the parts of FiM's fanbase that are abhorrent. We're doing pretty well so far.

Isn't it already pretty damn popular on tumblr? Not as popular as MLP, but it's still very prominent. Actually, plenty of cartoons have a pretty large following there.

I haven't seen this yet, but I've heard it's pretty good! I hope it does get a good following; I love good western animation in general, and it makes me happy when other people love it too and when there's stuff to love!

Eh, I think Dan VS is an awesome cartoon, and needs a bigger fanbase, too. Though while it's a kid show, it's not exactly for kids...(Sooo many reasons why, but I still love that episode where Dan tells a kid to not let anyone take his shiv, because that's how you get popped<3)

I've never heard of this show, though, might look into it...

I have yet to watch Gravity Falls, but isn't that cartoon intended for an older age group? I don't think it's really fair to compare it to MLP when MLP is intended for a very young audience (yes it has reached beyond it's intended audience, but that doesn't change the face that MLP can only get away with so much because they can't make their plots too mature.)

I love Gravity Falls, but I really don't want it to reach pony levels of popularity! I wouldn't want to see ten recolors of Mabel every time I refresh the dA newest page.

Not trying to be a hater, but can someone tell me what the big attraction is to this show? I tried to watch the first episode, and I had to turn it off about five minutes in from secondhand embarrassment. I found Mabel extremely unlikable.

But it seems like everyone of my fandom friends loves it. Am I just missing something?

I keep seeing gifs and stuff all over tumblr, but have never seen the show. What channel does it come on? And if I don't have the channel, any recs on places to stream it? I am now curious about it and have friends who want me to watch it.

So, I just looked into it/started watching the first episode. This just smacks of Eerie Indiana. Kid who knows weird things are happening in a town he was forced to move to? Looks into the weird things? No one really believes him? Next you'll tell me there's a mysterious broody kid with white hair or something.

Also, his sister reminds me of Sarah Silverman. She is annoying as hell. I wouldn't say this is better than MLP. It's an okay show, but not better.

I don't know anything about this show, but does it have more than one or two female characters that get as much focus or more than the male characters? Because that's the only way I'll consider anything getting touted as the children's show we should all be watching instead of My Little Pony.

I have never been able to get into this show. I feel bad about it since most of my online friends really like it (it's ridiculous that I feel this way, since none of them expect me to like it), but I guess it's just not my thing.

I understand why you want it to be popular, though; and honestly? The people I know in that fandom are just so contagiously happy that I hope it gets that popular, too. (Besides, I kind of like the Motorcity crossover fanart that comes out of it. I wouldn't say no to more of that.)

I wouldn't say I would want GF to be as big as MLP, but damn it deserves a lot of attention. This show restores my faith in future cartoons.

They are both awesome! I love Gravity Falls and I'm happy it's become so popular. I prefer MLP, but they are both great show that deserve to have a lot of attention. GF seems to have a better fandom, but that's not saying much really...Though, just saying, Phineas and Ferb is the best kids' cartoon airing now tbh ;P

Gravity Falls is awesome but I don't see it exploding like MLP, I just don't think it's the right...sort of show for that to happen.

Honestly I'm glad, as long as it does well and we get all 3 seasons and they are good.

I love love love this show, it's like Twin Peaks, Alan Wake, and the X-Files all had a baby and stuffed it into a fantastically tacky sweater. But I gotta admit, the rampant Pinecest just kills me. Especially since the creator's mentioned that he based Dipper and Mabel on himself and his sister. :/

Tumblr loves it, though it's not at pony level. Like others said, I kinda hope it doesn't.

I hope it at least inspires other shows to have girly girls who have the ability to enjoy being dorky and gross. There was a severe lack of that in my childhood.

Why the hell would you want that? I wouldn't wish MLP's fanbase on my own worst enemy. Let alone an innocuous, enjoyable show like Gravity Falls.

I don't watch much MLP (I watched the first episode) so I can't really compare, but Gravity Falls is AMAZING. It's just so fun and funny and I really hope it gets a lot of fans.

I don't know if it'll get a big fandom because IMO there's not much in the show for shipping. But yeah, I hope it gets a good following because Gravity Falls is great!!
