I think it was a combo of the work environment, Ecclestone not wanting to be pigeon-holed as "the Doctor" or as a sci-fi actor, and from what I understand, someone higher up in the decision making process (be it producers, RTD, whoever) didn't exactly care for him. And then the timing worked out on David Tennant, so there it goes. But it's been a while since I read up on it.

Are there actually people who watch Breaking Bad and think Walt is a terrible person, and also like Avengers and excuse Loki's actions? I mean, I watch Breaking Bad and participate in Avengers fandom and I never thought "Huh, Walt and Loki are so similar!"

Assuming this isn't just a troll secret, though, I think the fantastical nature of superhero films makes it easier to excuse truly horrible actions because of the way they're portrayed. I know when I watched Thor I was not particularly horrified at the idea that the Frost Giants were in danger of being wiped out--on an intellectual level I understood that it was genocide, but emotionally it's so outside the realm of possibility that it's hard to experience a truly visceral reaction. I think the Avengers movie does a better job at making Loki's actions more shocking and emotionally affecting, but it's still a PG-13 summer action movie and by necessity the audience is distanced from the consequences of Loki's cruelty, with the major exception of Coulson's death.

By contrast, Breaking Bad is far more accessible. Nothing Walt does comes even close to what Loki does, but the audience is much closer to the suffering that Walt's actions cause. So in some ways it's harder to ignore.

I totally have. I remember for fashion class I had to do a collage of different outfits and I picked them all out of my favorite manga.

Also back in elementary school, whenever we had assignments where we had to write sentences using vocabulary words, my friend and I would write all our sentences about Pokemon and share them with each other. Good times. I still sometimes do Pokemon vocabulary sentences out of habit when I study languages. 'xD

Oh, that's good to hear! I decided to get a lot more serious about DDR because I've heard stories of people losing weight with it. I've tried other exercise in the past, but DDR is something I can do every day and not hate it. :)
