Thanks- it just blows my mind how people can say stuff like that and not realize there might be somebody from the group they're talking about standing right the fuck in front of them. It's not like we're discussing theoretical Martians.

Well obviously, they knew it was safe to talk about, because if you were bi you'd be trying to make out with them by force or something, I mean, come on.

I've been pissed for, I don't know a year maybe, since I read a Miss Manners column where she responded to someone's query with "Well, he's bisexual, so you know he's no good..." and advised the person to cut the boyfriend loose and thank their lucky stars.

OMG the promiscuous bisexuals idea. I was legitimately told in a health class in high school that bisexuals "could never be truly happy with one person, and would always want both". I was actually horrified into silence by how fucking ignorant the teacher was, and also, getting confused with poly there again dude. There are poly bisexuals but there are also poly straight people and gay people and monogomous bisexuals arrrhgh.

I've noticed a lot of my fellow bisexual friends going to great lengths to be in the closet on whichever side, because of this kind of pressure- several guys who get absolutely furious if anyone mentions that they used to sleep with other guys, because that would apparently invalidate their relationships with women later on? And one woman who has started strenously identifying as lesbian which, totally her perogative, but it makes me really uncomfortable the way she started slamming heterosexual relationships around the same time when I knew from graphic details she'd given me that she'd been attracted to at least two men in her life.
