I mean, I think I remember reading it somewhere (how credible it was is beyond me). It explains their children at the end though.

I don't think it was explicitly stated, but implied in the video game.

It always seemed to me that Aladdin took place in a...Las Vegas style of the Middle East. Jasmine is still a Woman of Color, it just never seemed like there was much thought into the cultural details of that film as with Mulan and Tiana (Even though, arguable, Mulan isn't really the pinnacle of Done The Research).

Expect there is a wide amount of skin color variation among people for the middle east. And I give the research stuff a bit of a pass considering Aladdin is a fable and not set in any one time period and Mulan is a legend and those often wind up with a great many anachronisms. If you want to get pissy about lack of research get pissy at Pocahontas.

Also the first anon left off Esmeralda who was a Roma.

yeah, outside of Pocahontas which was based on real events, this isn't a big deal. Not even Princess and the Frog really goes much into the time period it takes place in.

Not exactly. It was based on the legendary aspects of the tale. Kind of like 300--based on a fictionalized version (a graphic novel, in 300's case) of a real event.

True, but for some reason, Aladdin always annoyed me more in that respect, especially some of the references Genie makes. They're already on their way out.

I've always assumed time travel was part of Genie's "phenomenal cosmic power", so he's familiar with things from the 20th century. [shrug]
