No, and fuck anyone who does, especially in this day and age. Other commenters have already covered the million valid reasons why an adult might live at home, but let me just add this: Just because someone looks able-bodied and healthy (and therefore lazy) doesn't necessarily mean they are.

(My teal deer, let me show you it: I have chronic pain that can be absolutely debilitating, but even when I can't get out of bed I *look* perfectly fine. I've been out of school for over a year and out of work for longer than that, because the jobs I can physically do won't hire me for lack of experience and the jobs that I can actually get would require me to push myself well beyond what my body can tolerate. A well-meaning relative got me an interview for a job that falls into the latter category, and I've spent all afternoon crying because even though I know what it'll do to my health, I'll have to take the job if it's offered because there's just nothing else and I already feel like total shit for mooching off my parents even though up until now I really haven't had a choice. So yeah, people assuming that adults who live at home are just being lazy really, really hit a sore spot with me.)

I have so much sympathy for you, and I'm sorry. :( My mom has TMJ, which doesn't give her pain as bad as yours but DOES interfere with her daily life quite a bit (although after decades she's finally found a doctor that's helping her fix it). She's luckily had understanding bosses for the most part, but I know she still finds it frustrating when people don't believe she has a disability because it's "invisible."

i can sympathize with this so much. both of my health problems are "invisible" disabilities, and it took even my parents almost a year to get over the "he's probably faking or exaggerating" mindset.
the work conundrum has kept me in a constant state of anxiety ever since i was diagnosed. before i got sick, i worked a manual labour job that i would never be able to do now, and let me tell you does that ever feel shitty.
so yeah, the assumption that people who live with their parents or are dependent on their parents (i am in the latter catagory) are just lazy mooches really rubs me the wrong way.
