I've never read the book, and as much as I hated the movie I doubt anyone could convince me to give the book a try.

The movie felt out of place in Fincher's collection. How do you go from The Game, Se7en, Fight Club, Panic Room, Zodiac to that. Where did it fit?

The book bears pretty much no resemblance to the film though, other than there being a character called Benjamin Button who was born old and ages backwards. Also, it's a short story, not a novel.
