Kikyo from Inuyasha. I first started liking her because I felt bad that she was so hated, then I genuinely started loving her as a character. But gosh, twice in a bookstore her name was merely mentioned in a conversation and people automatically replied with "that bitch". Ha ha, I think those were some of the few times I argued with complete strangers.

Oh man, that brings me back! I started out as one of the irrational fanbrats due to my Kagome love, then grew up a little to the point where my stance was 'stop saying Kikyo should kill Kagome, they're literally the same person'.

Oh, wow. I think I'm glad I was never part of the fandom. I love the show, but it would have made me sad to see the Kikyo hate.

Oh my god I remember not comprehending Kikyo hate at all, and getting into internet arguments about this. I just loved her so much, and why couldn't people just see how screwed over and tragic and awesome she was aaaaaaahhhh D8
