If it's about gay representation, why not fight for more Danny??

I want more Danny.

agreed. though i think that danny's going to have a bigger part in s3, so who knows what might happen with him.

OMG YES MORE DANNY PLEASE. I LOVE DANNY.

(Personally, I enjoy Sterek because it's an active fandom and all my other ones are in a lull - and because, really, there can never be enough Stiles. I get secondhand embarrassment from anyone who actually forces fandom on the cast/crew, but at the same time, I'm happy that some people are waking up and realizing that slashers might just be an audience to court.)

I enjoy Sterek too but seeing people shriek about how it's somehow necessary to gay rights makes me cringe.

I want Danny to have his own show where we just follow him around while Jackson and Scott and everybody else are just acting so weird as they pop in and out of Danny's daily life and Danny just takes it all in stride.

Jackson has a video of himself sleeping he needs fixed? Whatever, Danny will handle that on his break, no prob and chat up the cute camera guy.

Danny goes clubbing, gets paralyzed by a monster? No biggie, long as his ex is suffering too.

Danny is one GQMF.

(That's why I'm on the fringes of fandom - seek out fun stuff, ignore the rest.)

I would watch that show.

I want this show so bad you don't even know.

I'm convinced that Danny is out having amazing adventures whenever he's not on screen.

OK, now I want a series of fics where Danny goes on crazy Indiana Jones type adventures and always makes it back home in time for lacrosse practice.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-30 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
YES! This exactly! This is exactly what I meant!

We didn't see Danny this episode? That's because he was in Mexico fighting off a drug cartel in order to get a sacred statue back to its people.

Took him less than two hours and he's still ready for some lacrosse practice. Oh yeah.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-30 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Not to mention, he was able to complete all his homework, maintaining his perfect GPA.
cloud_riven: Close up of a typical teary-eyed anime face! (I *JUST* want to be *FRIENDS*)

I love everything about this comment.

Oh silly. Why ship an actual canon gay character who is out, proud and accepted by his friends - when you can ship two random characters who barely interact and can't stand each other?

(I like lots of random ships, but the one-ship-mind of this fandom bothers me LOTS ...particularly when they start acting like Sterek happening is the great leap forward for the queer community LOLZ).

(Anonymous) 2012-08-30 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You raise plenty of good points, and I'm not arguing with most of them. I'm just responding to the "can't stand each other" thing here, even though it's been mentioned several times this thread and elsewhere.

Why do people act like this is a reasonable argument for saying the ship doesn't make sense, when it's possibly the most basic reason it exists in the first place? Have people never seen romcom movies? Watched TV? Read books? Heard stories that have existed for generations? "Based on misunderstanding or prejudice, two characters meet and form an instant dislike for each other. Due to circumstance, they are forced to spend a certain amount of time together, during which they begin to develop a rapport and perhaps even grudging respect or tolerance. Eventually (maybe after some crisis), they realize that...hey, they kind of like each other and want to see each other naked. Happily ever after." As an audience, we've been brainwashed into thinking this is the best, perhaps the only, way to tell a fictional romance, especially if there are comedic undertones (which there most certainly are with Sterek). And it's the kind of story that fanfic authors particularly are drawn to, because it provides a challenge - get the characters from point A to point B.

I'm saying this as someone who half-assedly enjoys the pairing: the question isn't "why ship two characters who can't stand each other?" It's "why wouldn't you?"

danny, who? i mean i'd be all for more danny, but i can hardly fault people for wanting to see the main characters with lgbt relationships.

danny's barely there in the first place. if he were suddenly transformed into the second/third main lead in the show then HELL YEAH I'D WANT MORE DANNY
