derek and stiles have almost no chemistry or anything that makes me want to ship them.. i started this show thinking I'd end it shipping them like a mofo and was so disappointed. seriously this ship makes no sense to me.

just judging from my dash, i really shipped them at first! then i watched the actual show and they barely fucking interact, it was so disappointing. ship and let ship etc but jesus i have no idea why it's so popular.

Not to mention that Stiles has made it clear a couple of times that he wouldn't mind if Derek died or at least was gravely injured. Everyone points to the pool thing as an example of Stiles and Derek shipping. Personally, I can't call that shipping material because 1) Stiles isn't really a killer. And he isn't the type to let someone drown if he can help it. Even if it is a pain in the butt werewolf. And 2) Derek may have been paralyzed at that moment but at some time the poison was going to wear off because Stiles had been paralyzed and it wore off on him. So, Stiles would be smart to keep Derek around because what better to fight a supernatural creature than another supernatural creature?

Meanwhile, Derek isn't the type of go attacking non-supernatural people. He actually seems to stay clear of them when he can. It is almost like a code to him. So, why would he break that code with Stiles?

Start there. There is more, but I can't find it at the moment. Some of it was hilarious rants about something called queer-baiting. I wish I could find it 'cause the term is awful and I had to read the posts about it to remove my mental image of the non-heteronormative surrounded by dogs from my brain.

(It's a reference to bear-baiting. BTW. I'm not a horrible person.)

I ship them, but I'm agreeing with the second hand embarressment. Esp with this fic contest that's just been launched by MTV and random people saying stupid things to the actors over twitter.

Shipping is great and fanfic/art is great and having your own opinions is great... But please kindly keep them to the interwebz?

Obviously scaling of the fourth wall turns me off of fandoms so bad. I mean, aside from lagging interest, that's the only thing that can get me out of a fandom. It just feels like I'm trying to write my porn and all these people are looking over my shoulder. :/

I gave this show a shot based on trailers, lolled, and watched it. I got all the way to season two before realizing that this new "Sterek" ship I'd been hearing about was from Teen Wolf.

I mean, slash and let slash, by all means but....I hadn't noticed anything at all between the two.

(TBH, it's like the Clint/Coulson ship the Avengers movieverse lot picked up on. And didn't Supernatural have that whole Wincest/Destiel for gay rights as well?)

I ship them, but more because of fandom than any actual interaction in canon, and not so much as I do a lot of other pairings on the show. I would care, OP, about Boyd exploring his sexuality. Or, really, any character. If any of the main characters of the show came out anywhere on the LGBTQIA spectrum, that'd be awesome. I'd love more Danny, too.

Well, the fact that creators of the show are shamelessly pimping Sterek now that they've figured out it'll get them rating is, to my mind, sort of a step forward. First gays couldn't be shown at all on TV, then only as mincing stereotypes, and now, we've moved to fanservice - babysteps! Also, heartwarming that male homosexuality is being touted the way the 'OMG make girls kiss' craze was - gender equality! Kind of.

Wait... are people really treating "Sterek" like it's a Queer Rights issue? Seriously? Personally, I just like seeing the characters interact, because it can get pretty funny (I see them as a microcosm comedic duo anyway); and yes, while both are easy on the eyes... HOW THE HELL is this a rights issue? Someone, please enlighten me?

i passively ship it though i'm not head over heels crazy about it. i just think it would be cool if it happened and yeah, that it would be one more same-sex couple on tv considering there are really really not anywhere close to enough right now. so yes, i can see where the whole queer visibility agenda is coming from though i'm not a fan of swarming the creators and telling them how to write their show.

but you know what, i WOULD be interested in boyd exploring his sexuality. or lydia. or erica. or scott. or anyone. and i don't like this assumption that everyone just wants to see white boys fuck. so please stop.

I got so much second hand embarrassment from that too, dear god. Anger, too. Ignoring the last 10 years of queer characters on television (including bisexual characters!!) just so you can pretend your fantasy ship should supersede what the actual creator/writer sees for the characters.

But I do ship them. I shipped H/D too, and that ship had very little chemistry in canon until book 6 if you ask me. It's more about how their histories and weaknesses compliment each other for maximum tension/drama. The slash-goggles fit, what can I say?

Oh, man. This. THIS. The fandom in general gives me second-hand embarrassment, but now that the Sterek fans (particularly, the more rabid ones) are talking about the ship as if it is progressive and empowering for queer rights just makes me want to gag. They've taken the "snub" by EW and are taking it to a crazy level.
And then ignoring characters like Danny that are publicly out and proud (and accepted publicly too) and basically acting like Sterek is the only way Teen Wolf can *be* progressive.

The Sterek fandom is *insane*.

I do like the pairing to an extent, but the Sterek fandom is so fucking embarrassing I've started wincing whenever I see the word "Sterek".

They will not leave Jeff Davis alone and it's horrible. He's accused them of stalking him on Twitter. And still they don't get it. Now they're all going to send him cookies begging for Sterek to be canon.
