Re: "Masterpieces"... that are overrated.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (novel). I try to have some sympathy because I know Stieg Larsen died, and that if he didn't, maybe the book would have been revised more or gotten better editing. But I really thought it needed more revisions and editing.

The 1930s film of Wuthering Heights starring Laurence Olivier. I'm kind of bitter about it because Wuthering Heights is my favorite book, and I think that movie bastardizes the story and characters horribly. And I blame it for a lot of the perception that Wuthering Heights is supposed to be a romance.
