Sort of depends on the country and culture. In Hong Kong for example, there are many people, little housing, and it's very expensive - it's common for adult children to live with parents and save for their own place a long time.

Me, I moved out at 17. I could not continue to live with my mom and get along with her - she was too strict. Best decision I ever made, I can say almost 23 years later.
