Misa Misa from Death Note. It's worse because I'm pretty sure the author hated her too, but she was literally the only character I liked by the end. At least she had a reason that wasn't ideological.

...She wasn't stupid, goddamn it. She was actually pretty smart, and really fucking brave. And she was cute and silly and that's not a bad thing!

Basically the same story for Sakura from Naruto. Which is sad, because hello only female character even remotely close to being a main character.

I also adore Nami from One Piece. Whenever an author writes her as an abusive harpy, or a greedy monster, or some other idiotic thing (not bitter) I exit the fic and don't read any of their other stuff. It's kind of petty, but I don't give a fuck. Nami is my precious favorite.

Outside of anime...I'm really protective of Tara from Buffy. IDK, she's just a decent human being who learned to stand up for herself be free, and that's actually really admirable. Not many people bash her though.

I'm also pretty protective of Buffy, come to think of it...and for being the main character, she sure gets bashed a lot.

I both love and hate Buffy, sometimes I am right there with her being so happy she's kicking ass, and other times she frustrates and annoys me to no end and can be a complete hypocrite.

But I think that's all because Buffy is such a well developed and human character, she makes mistakes and one of the best things about that series is that she often gets called on her mistakes.

If fans of the series have issues with her I can deal, but I can't stand people who bash Buffy and have barely even watched the show. I actually had more trouble with that then cure character bashing because when BTVS was first around a lot of people liked to hate on the show without even watching it.

Misa! God, I forgot about her, I loved her so much. Y'know, every time I see someone call her stupid, I acatually see red.

Misa was smart. She'd never have gotten as far as she did if she weren't smart.

... Sometimes I wish she had been the main character instead of Light.

Agreed so, so hard for Misa.
