James Potter... the amount of hatred he gets is so disproportionate to his flaws. But people seem really keen on painting him as a one-dimensional bully jock, which he wasn't. I could write a freaking essay on this, with quotes and evidence to back it up.

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous. Like... which books were they reading? Because in my copies, Wormtail was the bad apple of the bunch, not James.

That said, the James haters are not quite as batshit as the "Lily is selfish for rejecting Severus" whackos.

I'm with you there, too. I want to punch those people in the face. I recently encountered a girl who said Lily was a bitch for not returning Snape's feelings, as though she owed him something because he fancied her... wtf.

It's weird, because a huge percentage of the Snily shippers I've met seem to vilify Lily as some sort of self-centered, vapid, shallow gold-digger... which makes it seem more like they just want to hand her over to Snape as a prize.
