Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally clicked the wrong thing and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (a bit over 100) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here and it will still go up this week.

The submissions post for next week is linked below as usual.

why do his eyes change colors in the movie in his scene with thor?

here go hell come

(Anonymous) 2012-09-01 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, I'd argue that it's more due to the lighting... Eye colors look slightly different depending on whether the lighting is warm or cool or what colors the person is wearing or surrounded by, and the differences can get really dramatic for people who have blue, gray, or green eyes. In Thor, the lighting for most of Loki's scenes was warm, whereas in Avengers, it was cool.
His eyes are edited to be green in promotional images for Thor, but they look a bit greenish in a lot of Avengers promotional images, too.

Both of those scenes are from Avengers. His eyes turn green when he's talking to Thor.

I don't see much of a difference between the first and third gifs in the top row. For the bottom row, the third gif's lighting is warmer than the first one.

sa

His eyes also look pretty green in Avengers during the scenes on the helicarrier where he's talking to Fury and Natasha, which are shot with greenish lighting, and while it could be argued that his comments towards Natasha are also partially about himself, he sure as hell isn't having any sort of internal conflicts when he's taunting Fury. Or when he's calling Natasha a naughty word.

So yeah, lighting.

But that's boring. Every little detail must mean something in the overarching story. Every. Little. Detail.

Hee! Okay, actually, this kind of shows my own bias in what I want to be symbolic versus what is indisputably symbolic.

So for me, Loki's eyes being green sometimes and blue sometimes? Lighting. Coincidence. Means nothing.

But Tony's arc reactor going dark in the scenes directly following Coulson's death? Stealth symbolism! Definitely not a special effects error! Or if it is, a lucky one!

(Personally, I think the idea of Loki being mind-controlled is bullshit from a story perspective, although manipulation would be reasonable. But I'm not gonna be a hypocrite about latching onto little details to overinterpret, except to point out that Clint and Selvig's shade of blue =/= Loki's shade of blue).

That's pretty neat! I hadn't noticed when I went to see the movie in the theaters. Now I can't wait for the DVDs so I can keep an eye out myself.

dvdrips are out

(Anonymous) 2012-09-01 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, but I don't pirate. No judging or anything, it's just a personal thing. :)

(Anonymous) 2012-09-02 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
DVD rips are out = legitimate DVDs are out too. There's a 4-disc set on Amazon for like $30

(Anonymous) 2012-09-02 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
ayrt

Amazon shows it's release date is September 25 for my area. I'm definitely going to order it as soon as it's available though!

(Anonymous) 2012-09-02 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
In most of the world the legitimate DVDs/blurays are out, but in the US they're not out until September 25.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-02 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Not Canada either );

It was pointed out in the replies that those gifs are edited: http://eatingcroutons.tumblr.com/post/30193652941/tenacitas-stereobone-have-you-ever-wondered http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:czrzSOsr67YJ:sonsofsky.tumblr.com/post/30136916439/have-you-ever-wondered-why-lokis-eyes-are-so-blue+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=hu&client=firefox-a

His eyes never changed colours, they were blue in Thor and they were blue in Avengers (even at the very end of the movie where Loki was supposedly "freed" from the mind control). It was also pretty noticeable in Avengers that the mind-controlled people's eyes had quite and unnatural colour and shade, while Loki's eyes remained a natural blue.

LOL some poor stan actually edited the gifs to support their theory. Oh man *cackles*

(Anonymous) 2012-09-02 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I also like that because their pet theory wasn't supported in the movie, Joss Whedon is a talentless hack.

Dislike Whedon all you want - there are plenty of legit reasons. But because he didn't give you woobie!Loki? Sorry, if I can't take that seriously.
