It'd be such a cop-out and phenomenally bad writing, but the wank would be some of the best wank in the history of wank.

(For the record, while I don't think he was being mind-controlled, I do think he was being manipulated to an extent, if for no other reason than I doubt Thanos and the Chitauri would be stupid enough to not keep an emotionally unstable demigod on some sort of leash.)

But yea, I just don't think it would be an interesting storyline, and imo it would seem pretty random. He's not a good guy either...you don't need to give him an excuse to do horrible things. It's far more fascinating to me that he did what he did with a clear mind.

IDK why people are so certain it's bad writing. Loki's characterization in Avengers didn't match with his characterization in Thor and he was working for the mind control aliens. It seemed clear to me that he was under their influence.

That said, just because I think he was mind controlled doesn't mean I'm up for woobie canon Loki. Nah. What *I* want is for Loki to be freed from the mind control, join up with the Avengers to get his revenge for said mind control, then promptly betray the Avengers and go right on with being a semi-unhinged god of chaos who's got no issues at all with doing evil things, but will do them with his own flair and style. :D

IDGAF if Loki later turns out to have been mind-controlled, except for the way it would ruin the cathartic satisfaction of a lot of his humiliating scenes.

I just hate the way people try to justify his actions like that right NOW, with no evidence, no purpose, and for no reason at all, except that they want to vindicate the character who represents all their own pent-up resentment and hatred and entitlement and self-pity and bitterness and sadism and skeevy inability to realize that doing bad things is bad even if you are sad and not as popular as some other kids.

I don't like mind-control because I think it makes Loki pitiable, and I don't want to pity Loki.

I like Loki best when he's in a situation that is way beyond his control but he manages to manipulate/lie his way through it, or when he's doing something absolutely awful but for reasons I can empathize with, even I can't condone his actions. If he was mind-controlled during Avengers than he's simply a victim, no matter how much he may have enjoyed what others made him do or how evil he acts after the fact. I can't entertain the idea that he may have orchestrated the attack on Earth because it was his best chance to get back to Asgard without incurring Thanos' wrath, or something equally manipulative/awesome. (in the scheming villain sense)

IDEK why mind-control is necessary when there is an actual scene where Loki is threatened with a fate worse than death. That gives a reason (or excuse, whatever you choose to view it as) for Loki's actions without turning him into a helpless pawn the way mind-control would.

I'm not fond of the mind control idea, but I agree so much with how woobie bashers are more annoying than woobie fans. Especially when they act like they are the righ mature fans and "not like those other fangirls. The word woobie seems to be loosing meaning anyway.

I don't think Loki was being mind-controlled. I'm sure he was at least a little bit inspired by fear of the chitauri and the Other, but mostly, he just did what he wanted.

However, I agree, the woobie Loki bashers are just as annoying as the woobie Loki fans. I hate how there will be a week, if that, between one Loki bashing secret and another.

YOU ALREADY KNOW THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE WOOBIE LOKI, JUST LIKE YOU. IS THERE ANY REASON TO SUBMIT A SECRET 99% SIMILAR TO THE LAST ONE? Same for Loki defenders, but from what I've seen, there are more bashers. At this point, if I never see another Loki secret again, it'll be too damn soon.

That'd be hilarious to watch. And I agree that the Loki-bashers are more annoying than the Loki-woobifiers. The bashers don't seem to know what fun is. And neither side knows how to enjoy a villain as a villain.

I don't go for the full-blown mind control theory. I do wonder if he was mildly, indirectly influenced, since a direct, full-on invasion is so different from his previous style. I imagine that if he invaded Earth entirely on his own, he'd infiltrate it slowly. I concocted this scenario where he and his multiples disguise themselves and pose as aides to various world leaders---they'd be just unnoticable enough to cause havoc.
