Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally clicked the wrong thing and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (a bit over 100) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here and it will still go up this week.

The submissions post for next week is linked below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: 00 pages, 000 secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

That'd be hilarious to watch. And I agree that the Loki-bashers are more annoying than the Loki-woobifiers. The bashers don't seem to know what fun is. And neither side knows how to enjoy a villain as a villain.

I don't go for the full-blown mind control theory. I do wonder if he was mildly, indirectly influenced, since a direct, full-on invasion is so different from his previous style. I imagine that if he invaded Earth entirely on his own, he'd infiltrate it slowly. I concocted this scenario where he and his multiples disguise themselves and pose as aides to various world leaders---they'd be just unnoticable enough to cause havoc.

My theory is that he had to do a shit-ton of compromising and wheedling and submit to a bunch of conditions in order to get the Chitauri to ally themselves with him (they certainly aren't his minions, and don't seem to like him much either), and the invasion isn't exactly his dream plan but he isn't really being that discriminatory or thoughtful given how deranged and how obsessed with and jealous of Thor he is. I think Coulson's "you lack conviction" line was a pretty nice hint that maybe Loki DGAF about being dictator of the world that much. I'm sure he likes the idea of conquering people to stroke his ego and legitimize/validate himself and get one over on Thor, but Doctor Doom he ain't.

da

As a random side note, my absolute favorite Doctor Doom storyline was the What-If where he won, conquered the world and became dictator and turned it into a utopia: cured cancer, ended world hunger, stopped all wars.

And then he got really bored and so when a hero rose up to set things back to what they were, he allowed it with a whole lot of relief.
