Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally clicked the wrong thing and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (a bit over 100) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here and it will still go up this week.

The submissions post for next week is linked below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: 00 pages, 000 secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

Ha ha, no.

The trend now is to cash in as long as possible and stretch the story out. Thus, the teasers at the end of movies prime you for the next one.

Technically a different genre, but the Saw movies backtracked and retconned and flashbacked and left things open for sequels (even in the what was supposed to be the last movie).

I'm only slightly familar with this, but isn't Joss Whedon kind of known for retconing and turning established canon on its head?

So, I don't think it is inplausable to think that future films could reveal that Loki was mind controlled. These Marvel movies have been stringing us along for years with teasers and hints, so a reveal that Loki had been mind controlled in The Avengers doesn't seem far out to me.

I guess thats true, but they don't generally pull things out of their asses that completely change the previous ending/twist, do they? Unless like the 6th saw movie does that, in which case I think it would be a case of crappy sequels not trying hard enough versus a legit style. I am not a very big fan of Joss whedon hmm maybe this is actually the reason.

I think it's okay to have things revealed later that add a new dynamic to a previous plot. But it can't be something like "the villain is not actually the villain because mind control." That's stupid. I think the only way you can do this after a movie has ended is if you're presenting us with something better: villain was mind controlled by new big bad villain you never suspected. that would be okay. Mind controlled by someone you already knew was a villain? That's dumb and boring

I think it's implausible in that the chances of Loki being the Big Bad in the next Avenger's film are pretty slim - and if he *was* mind controlled there'd be both foreshadowing of that, and in all likelihood would probably no longer be a villain in that set up. It could just be me, but I just can't see them pulling off a change like that, or even trying too really, since they really seemed to put Loki to bed when they had Thor take him back to Asgard in chains [and metal gag/mask].

Of course, it's possible - just like the next villain could end up being a guy in a purple and green dinosaur suit - but plot-wise it wouldn't make sense, particularly since the mind-controlling aliens kept bringing up a 'deal' they'd struck with Loki to provide him with an army - and they wouldn't feel the need to threaten him.
