Watching 'The Outsiders' and the scene where Ponyboy and Sodapop are spooning and whispering intimately in bed... BAD THOUGHTS! They're brothers, underage brothers! But why was this scene filmed so intimately, why does it look like Soda's going to kiss Ponyboy!? It feels so wrong... but I kind of want it. (The whole movie is pretty homoerotic, tbh.)

Well, the book was written by a 16-year-old girl. If she was anything like me at that age, I doubt the subtext was entirely unintentional. :P

Some of people's assessments of the book indicate that she was writing the kind of boys she would want to know/fall in love with. People say Ponyboy was too sensitive for a 14 year old boy. I don't know if I agree with that, but it's been a while since I've read the book.

The author's a huge Supernatural fan. It's not really a surprise that she'd write about "psychotically, irrationally, erotically" codependent brothers, and end up enjoying Supernatural, too. It's probably just a wee bit intentional, though perhaps subconscious?

Holy shit. I did not know this. So, maybe I shouldn't feel so bad?

There's a brief scene in Do The Right Thing where I totally thought Pino & Vito were doing it. Um. IDK.
