Makes sense. If they were religious it would probably come up at some point, in one form or another. Even my very mildly Christian friends and family members do pray sometimes in public, and Wiccans and Muslims I know wear very obvious trappings of their faith. If it's never mentioned and literally never comes up, there's a good chance the character would realistically be non-religious.
