I really wasn't expecting a reply. I don't know if you'll see this but -

Seriously, we say time and time again that Naked Persimmon isn't for everybody, that's what PsychoJello exists for...the more productive look at the Monkees. We're just there for the more surreal, ridiculous look at it.

I don't have any problem with the surreal, ridiculous look at stuff. I like surreal, ridiculous looking!

We're hardly a dictatorship and it seriously upsets me that people think that way, we're just fans trying to have fun and really struggling sometimes because of the opposition.

I didn't call you a dictatorship. What I said was that I was the only one I know in my circle who seems to have an issue with your tumblr. I think, from things people have said, you guys have had issues in the past with people. I don't know about those - and I'm sorry you had a bad time. But I think you both bring this defensive 'opposition!!!' attitude to everything anyone says that's not 100% positive about your tumblr. I'm not 'opposition'. I'm someone with a differing opinion (and from what I can see, not a very popular one!).

I don't know how many times we can say that we don't hate Davy or whatever; yes we lean more towards Mike or Peter but we try to give all of them equal air-time, as it were.

I also didn't say you hated Davy. But it is quite obvious (or at least it seems so to me) that you both lean toward Peter and Mike. I'm not saying that's a bad thing or you HAVE to like everyone equally. It's just that I could tell you both prefer Peter and Mike from your coverage and posts. It doesn't feel like you give them all equal air time, which strikes an off note when the tumblr is supposed to be about all four. That's what makes it seem to me like you don't like Davy as much as the others. I'm not pulling it out of thin air to piss you off.

OP says about us being so thin-skinned...can you blame us? When someone sets up a Tumblr specifically for how much they hate you, it's hard not to take it personally when you spend hours upon hours trying to come up with stuff to keep people entertained.

I said in my secret that I can see the good points in the NP tumblr and the people who run it. I also said there have been times when your reaction to things has been justified (like the facebook stuff). But you guys get really defensive about everything, big and little. I don't like that, and I don't feel like that kind of force is needed Every. Single. Time. I didn't start a hate tumblr. I said in my secret that there are good points to NP. I'm not telling you guys what you should or shouldn't be doing. That's justification for being thin-skinned, but as someone who's not attacking you, I don't see why you need to be thin-skinned with everyone.

I'm sorry that you feel left out and feel like you can't participate, I'm sorry that you feel you're alone in this (trust me, you're not)...we can only do our best.

I don't feel like I can't participate. I just feel like I can't say anything slightly critical of NP (and that's what it is - a little bit critical...not an attack, and not bashing) because you guys would reply with one of those answers that's not a discussion, but a shut down. And then your supporters would get in on it, and I think that I would be buried alive under indignant reblogs.

Firstly, my response wasn't all to you but to the various people we've had go against us. I wasn't saying you made the hate Tumblr, I was just saying that it happened. the problem is, you are only seeing the one side of it. When we respond in defense of something, it's ususally because we've had enough...it's not a spur of the moment defensive but something that has been building. We've seen a lot of backlash against us, a lot of people talking behind our backs and not being remotely subtle about it and we let it go but it will get to a point that we feel we have to acknowledge it for our own sanity. To everyone else, that probably looks like we get defensive over everything, but trust me, we let so much slide and try and ignore so much.

Honestly, we would not flip out over criticism. But we've had so many people have digs at us, pretending it's criticism when it's not, that it's hard to take it in the light it's intended sometimes. I don't do a whole lot with the Tumblr because I don't have the creativeness with the posts, I stay very much in the realm of the website itself but it just gets me down that whenever I go to Tumblr, there's always some kind of drama. We never expected to have as many followers as we do or to become one of the top Monkees Tumblrs (I personally would trade it in because I can't handle it at all but it's Mini's playground and I know she enjoys it when things are calm).

I know you weren't saying that I made that tumblr. What I meant was that you bring that attitude - hate tumblr, people badmouthing NP - to minor things, like my complaint. That you get defensive immediately, like my complaint is the same as those other things. I didn't think you were ever accusing me of starting a hate tumblr! I mean, I get that those kind of things can make you defensive...but at the end of the day, you're still responding defensively...and maybe sometimes to people who aren't trying to engender that response. Or at least, it seems that way to me.

Well, as someone who is part of 'everyone else' - yeah, it does seem over-defensive. Hey, I'm not saying I know the whole story. Maybe you are completely justified every single time you respond to something, but as a total bystander - it looks kind of paranoid. I don't mind people disagreeing with me - honestly, I don't. But it feels like you and I couldn't disagree (on the NP tumblr) without me being made to feel like my disagreement is an attack. Maybe you guys would be completely fine with it, like you say...but the way you respond to other people (maybe all of who are haters, I don't know) maybe gives non-haters the feeling that they'll be smacked down if they voice a dissenting opinion.

Well, there are a lot of good things about the tumblr. Of course you should have a lot of followers. And my opinion is nowhere near 'chuck it in' and I hope that's not what you're taking from this. I'm just saying that the way you guys handle things isn't for me, but obviously you feel like you're justified in that. Clearly we're going to have to agree to disagree.

Thanks. But I don't quite get it. You guys have lots of supporters, who are totally on your side. I'm not 100% in your corner but I can admit that you guys have sometimes been justified in your responses (hey - I really am trying to understand your side of it). I can see that you have some haters, but are there really that many? You just seem really, really focused on your haters, rather than your supporters and casual fans, which have to way outnumber them. Again, I don't know the whole story (don't think I want to, TBH) so maybe these haters are utterly impossible to ignore. If that's the case, my sincere sympathies.

Anyway, peace out! I don't know that either of us have really changed positions :-) but I appreciate the responses.
